Two Mountains is look for a Head of Marketing and Public Affairs for their Midrand office on a permanent basis.
Purpose of the Job
The role defines and facilitates the implementation of Stakeholder Relations strategy within Two Mountains to manage the optimal positioning of Two Mountains with key stakeholders and to unlock shared value with stakeholders. This role also develops and drives implementation of the company’s marketing strategy. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through other managers and their teams over periods of 1 -2 years. This role requires proactively collaboration across the Two Mountains and Old Mutual Group, and within the Two Mountains value chain to deliver integrated outputs to the benefit of the companies
Key Outputs
- Stakeholder Relations and Corporate Affairs
- Proactively develop and manage effective relationships with primary stakeholders (within the funeral and financial services market) to support the good standing of Two Mountains and to deliver the desired impact on these groups.
- Identify and map the needs and expectations of the external stakeholders to deliver suitable engagement approaches that unlock shared value for Two Mountains and stakeholders.
- Able to craft an approach to stakeholder relations that will drive the Two Mountains stated socio-economic goals of community upliftment and of building stronger economies across South Africa.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of Two Mountains stakeholder engagement and relationships to identify and manage stakeholder risks.
- Provide input on all matters to support in the appropriate handling of political matters that affect Two Mountains and its stakeholders.
- Communication plan and associated policies and messages for identified stakeholders.
- Guide and manage lobbying activities with external stakeholders for Two Mountains.
- Developing and implementing corporate affairs strategies to enhance our reputation and build stakeholder trust
- Advanced skills in building and maintaining relationships with key media, stakeholders, and influencers
- Serving as the primary media spokesperson, responding to media inquiries and developing key messages and media releases Providing strategic advice to senior leaders on reputation management, stakeholder engagement, and media relations
- Sound understanding of the ethical, legal, and regulatory parameters for public relations activities
- Skilled in developing and implementing crisis management plans and processes.
- Customer
- Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of our customers’ needs, preferences, and pain points
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and refine customer value propositions that meet customer needs and drive business growth
- Designing and executing research and testing initiatives to validate customer value propositions and measure their effectiveness
- Provide input into training programs to ensure that customer-facing teams can effectively communicate and deliver our customer value propositions.
- Marketing and Brand Management
- Drives Marketing, Communications function, Internal Events and Conferences and advertising on various media.
- Develops and implements up to 3-year company marketing and brand strategy and business plan.
- Develops and implements the company’s marketing calendar.
- Sets and directs the delivery of the company’s marketing research plan in support of the company’s marketing deliverables.
- Delivers the marketing elements of the Customer Value Proposition within the company.
- Develops the strategic framework & governances. Drives market development activation.
- Drives Two Mountains responses to actively manage customer expectations.
- Campaign enhancements to develop Two Mountains customer communication & engagement plans.
- Manage the brand and maintaining brand identity and guidelines. Manage social media accounts and platforms including websites.
- Analyzing market trends and competitor activity to inform marketing strategies Managing and optimizing marketing budget to achieve maximum ROI
- People
- Manage people and culture per Two Mountains people practices and policies to create an enabling environment that supports high-performing and empowered teams.
- Define and drive clear accountability and engagement models and processes within the team and with touchpoints across the Two Mountains Group
- Business and Market Knowledge
- Displays sound knowledge of the business landscape (Business value chain and key operational areas.
- Understands the value offering of each area within the business to the different customers.
- Understands the type of market within which the business operates.
- Knows the key competitors and their product/service offering.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Relevant Degree (Marketing Commerce, Business, Legal)
Experience Required:
- Minimum 6 to 8 years’ relevant experience
- 3 to 5 years people management experience
- Proven experience in interpreting and implementing company strategy.
- Experience in a stakeholder management, corporate affairs and marketing capacity will be an advantage.
- Prior financial services experience is desirable.
- Prior funeral services experience is advantageous.
- 3-5 years experience in collaboration at an executive level
