Purpose of the job
A skilled Business Intelligence Developer design, develop, and maintain data models, dashboards, and reporting solutions that support effective decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will have experience working with modern BI tools, strong SQL knowledge, and an analytical mindset.
Key Outputs
- Data Development & Modelling
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from various sources.
- Build and optimize data models, data marts, and semantic layers.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all reporting outputs.
- Reporting & Analytics
- Create interactive and visually engaging dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Power BI.
- Translate business requirements into scalable analytical solutions.
- Develop automated reporting solutions to reduce manual effort.
- Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and gather requirements.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and cross-functional teams.
- Governance & Best Practices
- Ensure adherence to data governance standards and documentation.
- Optimize BI solutions for performance, usability, and maintainability.
- Support data security and compliance initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Proven experience as a BI Developer, Data Analyst, or similar role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL (e.g., T-SQL).• Hands-on experience with BI tools (Power BI).
- Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines (SSIS, Power Automate, Databricks, Datapipelines).
- Solid understanding of data modelling principles (star schema, snowflake, Kimball).
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of database systems, including design, optimization, and complex querywriting.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with a focus on optimizing application performance.
