Purpose of the job

Primarily focusing on Regulatory Monitoring & Advisory, Regulatory Change Management, Risk Management, Reporting & Governance, Training, Awareness & Culture Building, Investigation, Issues Management & Remediation and OPS Support. AML & POPIA as well as advisory services to accelerate remediation, stabilise first‑line execution, and ensure readiness for evolving regulatory reporting and monitoring expectations. The role will directly support the multi‑year AML plan and the privacy programme target.

Key Results Areas

Management and Business Units

• Provide expert advice to management and business units on the application and interpretation of regulatory frameworks including FAIS, FICA/AML, Insurance Acts, POPIA, etc.

Compliance Responsibilities

Ensure business units understand their compliance responsibilities and support them in implementing required controls.

Regulatory Changes

Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on company operations, policies, and processes.

Compliance Risk Management Plans, Policies, Manuals, and Frameworks

• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating compliance risk management plans, policies, manuals, and frameworks.

Compliance Risk Management Framework

Contribute to the development and execution of the Compliance Risk Management Framework, including identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting on compliance risks.

Compliance Monitoring Plan

Conduct compliance monitoring, internal control testing, and reporting in line with the Compliance Monitoring Plan.

Support the Business in Remediation

Track monitoring findings, escalate areas of non‑compliance, and support the business in remediation.

EXCO and relevant Governance Forums

• Report on risks identified, compliance status, gaps, and trends to EXCO and relevant governance forums.

AML Obligations

Manage AML obligations including STR/CTR submissions, daily and monthly AML reporting, and maintaining evidence of AML processes.

Implementation of FICA/AML policies, procedures, and riskbased approaches

Draft and support the implementation of FICA/AML policies, procedures, and risk‑based approaches.

Implementation of POPIA Requirements

Support implementation of POPIA requirements, including record‑keeping, privacy controls, and compliance documentation updates.

Identify and Manage Risks

Support the implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) policy and assist in identifying and assessing risks.

Advisory Support

Provide advisory support for data‑protection queries and ensure privacy compliance across business processes.

AML training programmes

Drive AML training programmes, ensuring equitable access to agents and staff, including those without laptops.

Regulatory and Legislative Obligations

Promote awareness across the organization, ensuring all staff understand regulatory and legislative obligations.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in law or commerce

• Qualification in Compliance is an advantage

• At least 5 years Risk and Compliance experience in a Financial Services Industry.

Technical Competencies

Financial Services Legislation i.e. FAIS, AML, POPIA, Long Term Insurance, Insurance, etc

Behavioural Competencies

• Basic Financial management understanding

• Well-developed oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills

• Time management skills

• Customer Centric oriented

• Computer literate
