Two Mountains is looking for a proactive and driven Senior Financial Accountant that is looking to grow with the organization and take ownership of the end-to-end financial and accounting processes for the insurance business.
Purpose of the job
Responsible for delivery of the financial accounting and finance control function in the organization through management of self. Responsible for the timely preparation of accurate and complete financial accounts and maintenance of financial records as a manager of others. To enhance financial performance, deliver finance support on key business projects as a finance business partner, improve internal controls and build process efficiencies (including automation where possible). This role will also provide support to the Head of Finance and contribute to business operations and decision-making including stakeholder management.
Key Outputs
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all administrative processes
- Delivery of complete and accurate financial results within stipulated timelines for all areas of reporting.
- Liaison for external audit process and key contributor to the successful completion of the annual financial statements by the statutory deadlines.
- Ensure financial accounts are compliant with regulatory requirements as well as IFRS and Group policies.
- Ensure compliance with tax, legislative & statutory requirements with timeous and accurate submissions.
- Expense management with a focus on optimizing existing efficiency and cost savings.
- Manages financial performance, expense controls and the production of operational and financial reports.
- Analyses and reviews the financial reports to ensure accuracy of information and advice, and accountability for the results, commentary, and integrity of information and recommendations.
- Provision of inputs into the business planning/ budgeting and forecasting processaccording to organization’s goals.
- Management of IFRS 17 requirements and compliance including correspondence with actuarial team.
- Preparation of tax calculations for review and ensure compliance with SARS.• through business planning, budgeting & forecasting at a department level (bottom-up).
- Contribute to the financial health of the business and aids in strategic decision making.
- Involvement in day-to-day finance operations including payments, cash flow monitoring etc.
- Provide support to the Head of Finance and to the Finance function (ad-hoc).• Effective business partnering and strong stakeholder management.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant Finance/ Accounting degree
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) would be advantageous
- 4+ years working experience in a senior finance role
- Leadership/ management experience (at least 2 direct reports)
Technical Competencies
- Financial Services/Insurance Industry experience is required.
- IFRS 16 and 17 Knowledge and application will be advantageous.
